Wedding Photography at the Cedar Court Grand Hotel in York

I have recently had the pleasure of working at two of the nicest venues to date, one of which is the Cedar Court Grand Hotel in York.
Very close to York centre, 5 minutes walk from the station, across the road from the city walls and close to the river, the hotel occupies the former head office of the North East Railway.
It is a five-star hotel, and everything about it exudes this level of quality, especially the service, from the man on the door, to the waitresses, and the wedding co-ordinators.
Having re-scheduled venues at late notice due to their original choice going into administration, Nicola & Ashley were more than happy with where they ended up, and probably more so than the original option.
The day was relaxed, as is typical for a venue wedding, and the weather was just perfect for a February day. Blue skies and sunshine came as if to order, and enabled the photos to be done outside, although we did some inside, so as not to waste the style and beauty of the hotel's interior.
I had the pleasure of allowing the happy couple to re-live their day this morning, going through the photos for the first time with them, the day after they arrived home from their honeymoon. It would seem I captured the day just the way they wanted me to. Job done!
As always, I had the pleasure of working in an amazing venue, with amazing people, and taking pictures of special moments for them to remember and enjoy. Should make for a fabulous album.

What happens when the groom sees the bride for the first time...

One of my favourite moments in a wedding is when the groom first sets eyes on his bride in her wedding dress. It can go either way, and normally does.
The reaction is a moment that I love to capture in a photograph to immortalise the moment.
It can reduce the biggest, strongest, hardest man to a blubbering wreck, and show the they really do have a big soft heart inside, whatever front they put on most of the time.
I have put together a selection of memorable ones for you to enjoy.
From the extremes of Lloyd, the big South African, who just broke down at the sight of Nikki walking down the aisle, to the full-on ear-to-ear grin of Euan as Sarah walked down the aisle, this is one shot I love to get, if at all possible.
